Programs and Activities

Our members and friends are cordially invited to participate in any of the many services we offer in the synagogue and community

Daily and Sabbath Prayer Services: We hold daily morning and evening services in addition to Shabbos and holiday services.

Kaddish: The new mourner receives a comforting welcome and sympathetic counsel and guidance for his spiritual needs.

Celebrations: Family celebrations are special occasions for our synagogue members. We celebrate births, brises, baby namings, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, weddings, birthdays, and anniversaries with beauty and warmth.

Hachnasas Orchim: Arranging hospitality for friends and guests is among our most important projects. We work continually to build our warm and caring community. Please call Leah Schwartz, 622-9930.

Memorials: The shul keeps records of Yahrzeits and notifies families of the anniversary dates. The synagogue also provides memorial tablets which are lit for the Yahrzeit and when Yizkor is said.

Community Mikvah: The newly-renovated Norfolk Mikvah is situated on the grounds of B'nai Israel. Women can schedule visits by calling Rebbetzin Silver at    (h) 533-9434 or (c) 647-2935.

Gift Shop: The shul gift shop, which is open by appointment and during office hours (9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Monday - Thursday), offers a beautiful and constantly changing selection of religious articles, books, gifts, and Judaica from national companies and local artists. Our prices are very competitive. If you need something you don't see, call Chanah Leah Rothman 685-8806 who will gladly order items as they are available.

Social Entertainment: Family picnics, Purim and Chanukah parties, Chai Kiddushes, Friday Night Dinners and more. Our shul provides a wide range of services and many opportunities to socialize with fellow community members.

Bar/Bas Mitzvah: Through the shul, you can help prepare your child for these meaningful life passages.

NCSY: The Synagogue hosts the local chapter of the National Conference of Synagogue Youth. The Junior NCSY program is for children grades 5-8, while the Senior NCSY program caters to teens in grades 8-12.  Call Rabbi Sholom Mostofsky 572-6344.
